Cidade da Cultura de Galicia

We provided preliminary design services for Cidade da Cultura, a major new cultural center for the region of Galicia in northwest Spain. In its original concept, the 200,000 square foot center was to be built inside a large hill outside the city. It includes a 1,600-seat opera house, a 500-seat multipurpose recital theatre, as well as a library and museum. Both performance spaces include orchestra pits and fully equipped stages. The opera house has a vast backstage area suitable for large-scale opera productions.
