This new 400,000 square foot home for the Den Norske Opera & Ballett was commissioned by Statsbygg, who acted as property managers and advisors to the Norwegian government. The opera house has been designed to accommodate Den Norske Opera's 600-strong staff and also stands as a cultural monument. In short, it is the most important cultural building project in Norway for over 700 years. The facility includes a 1,400-seat opera house and a 400-seat flexible theatre in addition to several rehearsal and production spaces.
