Renzo Piano Building Workshop
Originally, we created a needs assessment, space program, and theatre concept design for the Greek National Opera's new home. Now, we're developing the new facility to accommodate the international standards of 21st century opera performance within an iconic 200,000 square meter cultural center that includes the National Library of Greece and a new cultural park. While embracing the historic importance of European opera houses, we're developing a facility that will accommodate traditional and experimental forms of opera and dance performance — advancing the art form, as well as the Greek National Opera, well into the future. The signature complex designed by Renzo Piano will be situated with dramatic views of both the Acropolis and the Mediterranean Sea.
