Theatre Projects has recently been appointed for specialist consultancy work on a major new Gateway Conference and Exhibition Centre in Ras Al Khaimah, one of the smaller Emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. This centre is being built by Rakeen Properties as a gateway project for a major new city development.

Theatre Projects is engaged to work with the architects, Snøhetta AS, on the schematic design stage of the Conference and Exhibition Centre, which will form part of a larger scheme housing several hotels and a shopping centre. Theatre Projects is also currently collaborating with Snøhetta on other cultural centres around the world, including the new opera house for Den Norske Opera in Oslo, Norway and a new collaborative arts centre at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, USA.

The project consolidates Theatre Projects' growing portfolio of prestigious projects in the Middle East, which includes Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, Qatar Education City, Dubai Community Theatre, a private flexible concert hall for the Sultan of Oman within the Guest Palace Complex at Qasr al Alam, and the 1,000-seat Royal Opera House in Muscat, Oman.
