Celebrating 50 Years of Theatre Projects

January 23, 2007

TPC kicked off its 50th year with a celebration in New York City. The party was held on Monday, January 15th at the American Airlines Theatre on 42nd Street.

In typical TPC fashion, the elegant fĂȘte proved to be an entertaining, enjoyable, and comfortable melding of the architecture, theatre, and entertainment industries. The party was attended by over 250 guests including architects, theatre and entertainment professionals, TPC clients both past and present, acousticians, theatre consultants, TPC alumni, the media, and other friends of TPC.

Speeches and toasts were made by Emmy and Tony-winning set and costume designer Tony Walton, theatre architect Hugh Hardy of H3 Hardy Collaboration, and Richard Pilbrow, TPC Founder and Chairman Emeritus.

A twist to the evening came when some of TPC's alumni unexpectedly took over the podium and presented their own TPC "poetry" including such memorable lines as:
But tonight we know what the initials stand for
We're having a great time, with our trips to the bar
The initials of TPC forever will be
Known to stand for THE PARTY COMPANY!

TPC Alumni: Alan Kibbe, Paul Turner, Bob Scales, Don Guyton and Duncan Webb

TPC was the theatre design consultant for the renovation of the American Airlines Theatre(formerly the Selwyn Theatre) which reopened in 2000 and is now home to the Roundabout Theatre Company.
