The New Goodman

'The new Goodman Theater puts on a good show.
That sounds like a small compliment; it is not. Designing a meaningful new home for the Goodman is one heck of an assignment. The venue has to be as relevant and compelling as the productions it will host.'
Chicago Sun-Times
TPC began work on the New Goodman Theatres in the mid 1980's. After many studies seeking to renovate their old, 1927 theatre in the Chicago Art Institute, a decision was made to build two new theatres in the Loop area of Chicago's downtown.
The new theatres both seek to optimize the intensity of the relationship between actor and audience. The 850-seat two level Albert Ivar Goodman proscenium theatre has a full stage and flytower, while the smaller 450-seat Owen Bruner Goodman Theatre is a three-dimensional courtyard theatre capable of being arranged into a wide variety of actor/audience relationships.
