The groundbreaking ceremonies on Friday, November 11, 2005 officially marked the beginning of construction on the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts. Theatre Projects Consultants is the theatre design consultant for the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House and the Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre.
The 2,200-seat Winspear Opera House is being designed by Foster and Partners of London.

The 600-seat multiform Wyly Theatre is being designed by the Office of Metropolitan Architecture of Rotterdam and New York.

The $275 million center will also include the redesigned Annette Strauss Artist Square (an outdoor venue) and Grand Plaza (a campus-like environment between the theatres). The Dallas Center for the Performing Arts district also includes the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, the Booker T. Washington High School, and City Performance Hall.
